Red River Lacrosse, along with Shreveport Indoor Soccer, just wrapped up the 2021 High School Box Season. This was a great way for players to get together with high school teammates, knock the rust off, and improve their stick skills, as the high school players prepare for the regular season. C.E. Byrd, Caddo Magnet, Capt. Shreve, Loyola and the Renegades all competed in the High School Division.
Age grouping quick reference table.
Here’s your chance to experience for yourself why so many kids are abandoning their Louisville Sluggers for a different kind of stick. One reason lacrosse is so popular with youngsters is because both big and small players can participate. Coordination, quickness and agility are the important skills, not just size. And parents, you’ll love the non-stop action and actual on-field playing time for your kids. We’re introducing this great sport in P.E. classes throughout the area, so give us a call today about helping start a team at your school.
Last two weekends of the fall rec-league season!

The Registration "Home" is not currently available.
October 19, 2024 — This past Saturday, the Red River Youth Lacrosse Association helped host a vibrant youth lacrosse clinic at the beautiful new fields on the campus of Centenary College, thanks to the support of Red River Lacrosse, Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Centenary College Lacrosse, and Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation. The event welcomed young athletes from across the region, introducing them to the fundamentals of lacrosse while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.
The clinic, held under clear skies, saw enthusiastic participation from boys and girls eager to improve their skills. Coaches and players from Centenary College Lacrosse, alongside dedicated volunteers, guided the kids through drills that emphasized core skills like passing, shooting, and defensive techniques. Youth players received valuable one-on-one instruction, with drills tailored to various skill levels, allowing beginners and more experienced players alike to gain confidence and improve.
The presence of local collegiate players not only inspired the young athletes but also provided them with role models to look up to within the sport. Centenary College players demonstrated advanced techniques and shared insights on the dedication it takes to reach collegiate-level play.
Supporting local youth events like this clinic is part of Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation’s commitment to fostering community involvement in sports and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles among young people. Cane’s Chicken Fingers generously provided refreshments and box lunch, ensuring that participants and volunteers stayed energized throughout the day.
Red River Youth Lacrosse Association continues to grow as a vital part of the region’s athletic community. Clinics like this one are essential for nurturing interest in lacrosse, connecting players with mentors, and helping young athletes build essential skills both on and off the field. The event was a reminder of the importance of community partnerships in creating opportunities for youth sports.
As the sport of lacrosse grows in popularity in Northwest Louisiana and East Texas, the Red River Youth Lacrosse Association looks forward to hosting more clinics, games, and events, welcoming even more young athletes to join the exciting world of lacrosse.

A big shoutout to all the Coaches, Officials, Players, and especially you Parents who supported the boys through all the practices and games this past spring. We are extremely grateful to the Bossier Police Jury, and all the folks at South Bossier Park for all their help and providing the field space for our program.
We will be back in P.E. classes in the fall, spreading the word about the sport of lacrosse. Let me know if you can assist in getting into your child's school.
We've had a number of parents and player who have asked about summer travel teams. This year we are encouraging everyone to support the teams in our area. The rising 5th through 8th graders are playing on the Venom team. They are already practicing practicing on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 until 7pm at Centenary College. Contact Coach CJ Seling at (207) 798-9741 about joining, and possibly even added a 3rd and 4th grade team.
For our rising 9th graders, we want to make sure that you knew about Louisiana Elite. Elite is fielding high school teams this summer. I know as talented as some of our spring teams were that we will probably field a competitive summer travel team. They will also practice at Centenary on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7-8:30pm starting May 23rd. Contact Coach Garrett Faktor at (318) 676-9592 for more information on Elite.

Registration is NOW OPEN for the fall 2022 elementary and middle school season, for boys and girls in K-8th grades. Teams will be formed, and Coaches assigned, in early October. Games will be played from October 22nd through December 11th at either Centenary College or South Bossier Park. The cost for the 8-game season is $130. We also offer a convenient payment plan. We do require all of our players be members of USA Lacrosse (annual $30 membership).
Landry Anglin was an 8th grade student at Caddo Middle Magnet, where she was a member of the Lady Laxers Lacrosse team. Landry was tragically taken from this world on Sunday, May 1st 2022. Through the outpouring of financial support from the lacrosse community, we have created a 'Laxin' for Landry' scholarship in her memory. We will offer financial assistance, for those in need, to any girl who wants to play lacrosse. Please continue to keep the Anglin family in your thoughts and prayers.
With beautiful weather on tap for this weekend, you should take the opportunity to watch the game grow! On Saturday, tomorrow, you can enjoy youth games at South Bossier Park from 10am until 3pm, including a JV game between Caddo Magnet and the 3-1-8 Renegades.
And then on Sunday, at 11am, the big boys take the field, with Centenary College hosting Colorado College at Mayo Field. This will be a special day for a number of our youth who will take the field with the college players during pre-game ceremonies before playing a 10-minute exhibition game at halftime! Come out and support the growth of the game in our area.
Wait! There's more! At 1pm on Sunday, LSU is scheduled to play TCU at Freedom Fields in Bossier City. Don't forget to bring your chairs and sunscreen. Come cheer on our former Red River Lacrosse players who are playing at the next level, it's going to be exciting!
Please feel free to share this with your friends.
Red River Lacrosse hosted youth teams from Tyler, Texas and Little Rock, Arkansas. They were greeted with Chamber of Commerce weather and a full day of youth lacrosse games at South Bossier Park.
Thanks to Centenary College Lacrosse we were able to salvage our games against Acadiana Youth Lacrosse this past Saturday. And the weather couldn't have been nicer. This season, we are expanding our regional footprint to play other youth teams from Lafayette, LA to Tyler, TX to Little Rock, AR.
Here’s the updated schedule:
Our spring 2022 youth lacrosse season is about to kick off! I have managed to keep all our games on Saturdays, with a few Sunday afternoons added in case of rain-outs. This season, we are sending several teams to play out of town, while hosting teams from Little Rock, AR, Tyler, TX, and Lafayette, LA. All our local games will played at South Bossier Park, unless otherwise indicated.
Due to a scheduling conflict at South Bossier Park this past Saturday, December 4th, we had to move our games to Centenary College. Thanks to Centenary College Lacrosse, many of our youth lacrosse players got to play under the lights on the turf at Mayo Field (behind the Gold Dome). Pretty cool.

Another beautiful day. Another Great day to grow the game in the 3-1-8! This past Saturday, dozens of new faces came out to our Pickup and Play Clinic. Thanks to USA Lacrosse for helping make the day possible.
Red River's U14 Team Getting It Up Before a Game in Lafayette.
Red River Lacrosse took a U14 team down to Broussard, Louisiana this past Saturday to take on the Baton Rouge Mustangs, the North Shore Spartans and the Acadiana Hurricanes in a pre-season playday. We look forward to forward to facing off against other youth teams from across the state and the region, as we continue to grow the sport in North Louisiana. Acadiana will bring their U8, U12 and U14 teams up here to play us on Saturday, April 17th, and Little Rock, Arkansas and Tyler, Texas will roll into town on April 24th. Come on out to South Bossier Park to check out some exciting youth lacrosse action!
On Sunday, May 23rd, Red River Youth Lacrosse wrapped up the 2021 spring lacrosse season. Well over a hundred elementary and middle school boys and girls participated on a dozen teams. The smaller-sided 7v7 format seemed to work well, providing more chances for the kids to have the ball in their stick. A big THANK YOU to all the parents and coaches who stepped up to help make this season a success! There are plenty of opportunities for the kids to continue to work on their game over the summer. We will continue to post about camps, clinics and personal training events on our Facebook page and here on our website. We will be contacting schools when classes begin in the fall in an effort to get into more P.E. classes to spread the word about the sport of lacrosse. If you want to get involved with growing the game, or have any suggestion on how you think we can improve our program, or if you can help us get into your child's school this fall, please feel free to give me a call at 318-834-0690.
Thanks again,

TryLax is 90 minute introductory lacrosse experience for kids who have never played before, but were thinking they might want to.

Byrd and Capt. Shreve gave us a look at things to come - and it's going to be exciting!
Beautiful weather made for a fantastic day this past Saturday, at South Bossier Park, as hundreds of Shreveport-Bossier lacrosse fans had a chance to get a glimpse of the 2020 high school lacrosse season during the 3-1-8 Laxin' in the Park Jamboree, hosted by Red River Lacrosse. Varsity and JV high school teams from Airline, Byrd, Caddo Magnet, Capt. Shreve, Loyola and South Bossier, as well as middle school teams from Caddo Middle Magnet and Elm Grove, took the field during this showcase.
FTK/River Cities Lacrosse hosted a free clinic on Friday night and tournament all-star game, on Saturday evening, on the campus of Centenary College as well. From the evidence on the field and off, the future looks bright for lacrosse in North Louisiana.
Thanks to all the players, coaches and officials who helped make our 2019 Fall Box Season a success. We had over 70 elementary, middle and high school boys participate. Please let us know if you or any of your former teammates or coaches interested in helping grow the game in north Louisiana. Great clinic, with great coaches, elevating the game in the 3-1-8! Shout-out to @StickStarLax and @GentsLacrosse for growing the game in North LA. Better on three, 1-2-3...
The Red River Youth Lacrosse Association (RRYLA) was originally formed in May of 2012 as the Caddo-Bossier Lacrosse Association. It was formed by several local coaches who wanted a more active youth lacrosse program, one that would be developing young men and women to play lacrosse into high school and beyond. What began with 60 youngsters in the summer of 2012 has grown into hundreds of players on more than a dozen youth boys & girls teams. Lacrosse is becoming a very popular sport around the country including Louisiana, and Shreveport-Bossier is no exception. The Red River Youth Lacrosse Association is the main reason for this surge in popularity locally.
These fine organizations make what we do possible. Please show your support to these amazing sponsors and thank them for their commitment to our organization. Interested in becoming a sponsor? Click here to learn more about our sponsorship opportunities
